in-room TVs or telephones, and the plumbing can often be a thing mystery and magic. Still, most place are clean and well run, if a little run-down. Those that follow can be relied upon to fulfill most needs, and provide a little old-world charm as well; just don t expect too much. All prices shown are per unit, unless otherwise indicated.
The Mansions. high uintas This is a private high uintas condominium complex, quite upscale, where you can, if you re lucky, rent direct from an owner. The minimum stay is one week. Not a family-oriented destination: no children under 12. Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, BWI,
sun-soaked mile. On New Providence and Grand Bahama, almost every hotel is either on or close to a beach. Those that aren t provide free shuttle services back and forth to a carefully selected and monitored beach.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Bahamas Training College have established a number of specialty tour guide qualifications: ecotour guides, bird-watching guides, etc. On the Out Islands high uintas there are no tour buses and, as yet, few tour guides. This is where the taxi comes into its own. For as little as $16 an hour, your friendly driver will show you his island and tell you all about it. These drivers are experts on the history of their particular island, and are often able to tell the story in a form that s as entertaining as it is interesting.
