The little towns and villages are an odd mixture of the old and the new. Here and there across the Out Islands you ll find impressive colonial manor houses right alongside half-finished concrete structures that will one day, as money permits, become the homes of fishermen and farmers.
Bicycles & Mopeds Bicycles are popular on the islands. Visitors love them. They are inexpensive to rent, convenient, easy to park, and nowhere is really too far away. The only concern is that you ll be riding on the wrong side of the road. You can rent
$ Banana Boat Restaurant, at Turtle Cove Marina, is one of the most popular eateries on Provo. The cuisine is said to be international; that might be a bit of a stretch but, if you like your food plain and simple, this is the place for you. T-bone steaks, fresh fish, lobster chattanooga camping and tuna salads, and my favorite: conch salad. The restaurant overlooks the marina. Recommended. 649-941-5706.
242-362-1820; on Grand Bahama, Pinetree Stables is at 242-373-3600. The going rate is $25 per hour, and you have a choice of English or Western saddles. Long rides along quiet country lanes lined with seagrapes, cocoa plums, casuarinas and white sandy beaches provide hours of quiet relaxation and often new friends and good company. Parasailing Parasailing is available from private operators at most of the major resorts both on New Providence Island and Grand Bahama Island.
